PozPaws D'Odelay has straight waist-length golden hair, which wisps delicately around her exquisite face. Her beautiful brown eyes are intense, and exude deep sadness. She is petite, slim, and graceful, with a dancer's restless energy which means that she is rarely still. She has a flirtatious manner, abruptly adopting an ingenue tone which contrasts oddly with her graceful figure but which is disconcertingly convincing, as though the childishness and impetuousness were not a pose but her true nature usually kept in check.
Born in Ankh-Morpork, the daughter of an Ankhian socialite noblewoman and a lord of the Ankhian realm, PozPaws grew to epitomise the spirit of an Ankhian ballerina. A dancer since the age of four, PozPaws trained under Madame Jolvesky (formerly of the Ankh-Morpork Opera House) in her family's spacious Ankhian home. Adored and spoiled by her protective older halfbrothers (the offspring of her mother's adventurous past), PozPaws' childhood was filled with love, light, laughter, and privilege.
She was a talented dancer, however, and by the time she was eight years old she was dancing with Colonel de Bollegg's Ballets Russes. Around this time she began exhibiting uncanny signs of arcane powers, and an innate ability to channel them. As she was schooled at home, it was decided that she be schooled in magic, and an old Hedge wizard named Vire Tetario, friend and wellwisher of the family, offered to educate her, and to be her magical guide and guardian.
At the age of twelve, PozPaws went to dance at the Ankh-Morpork Opera House without an apprenticeship, where she went on to instant stardom, and catapulted to fame, capturing the hearts and imaginations of all those who came to see her dance. When she was thirteen she became prima ballerina, the youngest ever to hold the post; she remained prima ballerina until she retired, at the age of nineteen.
At fifteen PozPaws fell in love with a handsome, but penniless young priest, who shall remain unnamed here. Although her halfbrothers frowned on the match, the young couple were madly in love, and determined to marry. When she was sixteen she was recommended for a place in Unseen University, which was granted to her, and she began her journey into the complex world of rituals, spells, spell components, magic words, arcane gestures, and magical items.
At the age of eighteen, PozPaws married for the first time, but her marriage was short lived, and ended in a bitter divorce in less than six months. Heart broken, she swore never to fall in love again, but in less than a year she was married again, to a wizard who will also remain unnamed. This marriage was doomed from the start, and was also over in a matter of months. By the age of twenty one, the beautiful ballerina who had been so in love with love, had been divorced twice.
PozPaws threw herself with immense fervour and energy into her ballet and her magical studies, and tried to forget the pain of her recent past. She focused on forging new relationships and strengthening old bonds with friends and family. She graduated from Unseen University, and was inducted into the order of Mrs. Widgery's Lodgers, where she is currently a Fourth Level Wizard, although she is not currently a practicing wizard.
At the age of nineteen, PozPaws retired from the professional stage, and bid a tearful farewell to the Opera House when she found she no longer had the time or the energy to commit to dance in the way that it deserved.
After her final departure from her beloved ballet, PozPaws is a writer, with a very busy social life. She works part time at Tarnach Fendertwin's Quality Consumables (Ankh-Morpork), and she is also a writer for the prominent newspapers of Ankh-Morpork. She still dances, and she still takes life as it comes to her, eagerly embracing every new day as a new experience.
PozPaws recently adopted a five year old girl, Pepita, and she has taken to motherhood like a fish to water.
Thanks to her adventurous socialite mother, PozPaws has several halfsiblings.
PozPaws comes from a family that is highly quirky and very dysfunctional, although they love each other very much.
PozPaws is a character on the Discworld MUD.
