Pythium Veridicus

Member of the Priesthood of Sandelfon

Full Title: High Priest of Sandelfon

Occupation: High Priest of Sandelfon, occasional reporter for the Ankh-Morpork Daily, retired manager of Tarnach Fendertwin's Quality Consumables

Nationality: Morporkian

Citizenship: Morporkian and Agatean

Gender: Male

Description

He looks fairly average, of slightly above average height, an unremarkable face, and shoulder-length brown hair. On closer inspection, it appears his skin has transsubstantiated to a rock-like consistency. Perhaps it is because he resonates in harmony with the stone of the Holy Halls of Sandelfon, God of Corridors. His face seems to be composed of myriad tiny grey tiles, each inscribed with an emerald green sigil representing a passage from the Holy Book of Sandelfon. The tiles themselves look quite fragile, but still flexible, evidenced by the quick smile that passes across his face.

Personal Story

Born in the town of Sto Helit, Pythium was soon sent off to the temple of Sandelfon in the city of Ankh-Morpork by his parents, both devout members of the clergy of Sandelfon. His education there progressed speedily, with numerous educational trips to the various nations of the Disc.

An avid student, he was ordained at the age of twenty, and at that time chose to be a travelling priest, not wanting to be bound to any particular place. He used this time to travel the Disc extensively, visiting many of the various guilds situated around the Disc, learning of their organisations. It was also during this time that he took up employment with Tarnach Fendertwin, initially working to stock the store, then progressing on to supervising and later on becoming a manager.

His faith was calling him, however, and he became the High Priest of Sandelfon. The duties inherent in the title interfered with his secular activities, however, and he was forced to step down from the board of managers of Tarnach Fendertwin's shop. True to the commandment of Sandelfon, however, he has remained on in an advisorial capacity, ready to suggest improvements to the organisation when he can.

During the course of his life, his involvement with the temple of Sandelfon has grown deeper and deeper, to the point of influencing his physical form. The power of Sandelfon has induced his outer form to resonate with the halls he walks in, leaving him looking to have been built of stone.

Family Story

The Veridicus family has its roots in the plains of Morpork. Coming from the Latatian Veri, truth, and Dico, to consecrate, Veridicus roughly translates to 'the sacred truth'. Exactly what this truth is has been much cause for discussion over the centuries.

The members of the Veridicus family are inclined to lives of devout worship, and are rarely not found in a position within the clergy. Rifts in the family have appeared, however, due to disagreement over which God should be revered as the One True God.

Currently, branches of the Veridicus family have spread over much of the Disc, and while most branches aren't speaking to each other, some individuals have taken the viewpoint that, differences of opinion aside, family is still family, and maintain close contact.

Comments

Pythium isn't a serious role-player; many of his interactions aren't IC per sé. All the same, he will often use says and emotes and role-play, while OOC in tells. However, on some public channels, OOC by their nature, he will adopt a more IC approach. Consider it pragmatic; role-playing is fun, and it makes life interesting, but sometimes it's just impractical.
