Ishtar is seventeen years old, short at only 5 foot 2 inches, and has long brown hair which reaches almost to her waist. Her eyes are large and of a dark, chocolate brown when not concealed by a mask, and they exude an aura of innocence and trustworthiness.
Found as a baby, left on the counter of the inhumation office of the Ninja's guild in Hunghung, Ishtar was adopted and raised by the Ninja. Upon reaching her 13th birthday she was sent to Bes Pelargic to begin her training under Master Yung.
Having passed the Ru Noperi and graduated from the guild, Ishtar was inducted into the intrigues of the great House Sung. In addition to performing a range of tasks for the Sung's, Ishtar also began taking tutelage in the musical arts, and quickly developed a promising talent with woodwind instruments.
Details of her life outside of the guild are scant, although some of the Genin whisper rumours of her involvement within a shady sect of the Church of Sek. Most senior ninja dismiss these rumours as the overactive imagination of their students.
At age 17, the Ru Noperi behind her, Ishtar became a fully-fledged member of the Ninja. Encouraged by Master Yung, she spent time in the Hall of Records researching, trying to trace her family. After a gruelling search, she discovered the identity of her mother: she had been of a noble house, but had run away with a samurai with whom she had fallen in love.
After giving Ishtar to the Ninja, her mother had apparently wasted away and died, but the discovery revealed that the young ninja was not, in fact, without a family She was overjoyed to discover that she had a cousin who also belonged to the Ninja, Hotaru.
