Back in the mists of time, when the ice giants withdrew back to the hub after the victory of the gods, the disc was a very strange place indeed. Any of us, the current inhabitants, if somehow transported back in time to these places would be totally lost, without a language to communicate in or a country to go to, certainly not a country that one would recognise. It is thought that in these times mankind started to emerge from the hub and make his way warily to the rim, probably in search of warmth or food which seem to be the driving forces for most migrations.
As we know, Brindisi is as close to the rim as any civilised country would wish to be, and therefore it is likely that by the time mankind first stumbled across our beautiful and bounteous land they were already grouped together in family units, perhaps wandering tribes of nomads moving entire villages overnight, or possibly early civilisations, defeated and fleeing the wrath of a mighty conquering army. Whichever way our first ancestors happened to find their way here is probably never going to be known with any degree of certainty. However, around our lands there are clues to where they came from and the lifestyle they adopted once here, and these are vital to our understanding of our origins and therefore our understanding of ourselves.
